11 Things That DO Work in Ohio

OHIO WE LIKE YOU HERE tee by Indie Loves Indy & Sold by Sunday Afternoon Housewife at The City Flea

A little while back we did a post on someone elses blog post entitled "11 Things That Just Do Not Work in Ohio". We tried to comment on each of the eleven and show that maybe we do them better than it seems. The original post was written by a fairly new Cincinnati import from the East Coast who is still sifting through all that is Cincinnati. We are please to share with you a follow up post from the same author entitled "11 Things That DO Work in Ohio". Definitely worth a read. Just as the original post did, it may make you realize a few things about Cincinnati that you no longer notice.

photo via over the rhine blog circa 1973 otr youngsters.

We can hardly believe the OTR summer celebration is already here. We could not be more excited about participating this year and are way ready to kick the 2012 off by celebrating the neighborhood we love best.  Here are some things you might see tomorrow:

- runners sweatin' it out for the go OTR 5k run

- street food from A Tavola, Senate, Abigal Street, Bakersfield, Lavomatic, 1215

- flea refreshments from Coffee Emporium, Streetpops, and Dojo Gelato

-a large number of folks milling around listening to live music, shopping at the Flea and the other awesome Vine Street business, admiring OTR's beauty or more than likely, all of the above.

What we don't want you to forget:

The Over The Rhine summer celebration is a celebration of the ENTIRE neighborhood so please, stroll through jackson or 12th (or any thoroughfares) to Main st, to Findlay etc....Over on Main you'll find Atomic number 10, Park and Vine, Mayberry, Smartfish art supply, Iris book cafe, Original Thought Required among others. The entire neighborhood will be alive (as it is everyday these days) so check EVERYTHING out!

See ya tomorrow!

THE SIDE EFFECTS OF BIKING

Everyone already knows that biking more often will definitely lead to better health, spending less money on gas, less traffic, less pollution, and increased energy levels. What many people dont know unless they actually try biking more is that there are some very serious side effects that everyone should be aware of before making any crazy decisions about leaving their car at home every once in a while.

Please be aware that biking more often may result in:

Desserts having little to no effect on your hips.

Scowls from people waiting idly at drive thru windows.

Light to moderate sweating which may lead to an increased risk of thinner legs.

Lack of interest in "traffic cams."

A sudden increases in self respect.

Moderate to severe weight loss.

Decreased exposure to horrific morning radio shows.

Pressure to return smiles and/or waves to pedestrians.

Sudden urges to pick flowers, stop in parks, and take shortcuts and/or scenic routes.

If you experience a bike ride lasting more than 4 hours you deserve a milkshake.

ORIGINAL MAKERS

Original Makers Club- heard of 'em? If not, you should certainly check out their site to see what they're all about. Briefly put, OMC is a culture guide to a particular city (in our case- cincinnati) filled with beautiful imagery and practical, cool information pertaining to small business, events, etc in said city. We're pretty excited about partnering up with OMC this year as club members and will have some more fun things to share on that later. For now peruse their website and try not to drool all over your keyboard too much while doing so.
